Why are our prices so high?

This is a question we get asked occasionally, as there are many other schools out there whose prices are cheaper.

As the old saying goes though: "you get what you pay for."

All our staff are professional and talented, and we like to pay them well for their work, even in a country where the minimum wage is around $2 per day.

You will find the excellent service, experience and knowledge of our staff is well worth paying a little extra for, and the little extra investment in your education will pay rich rewards as you learn Spanish in the best and fastest way possible.

Our facilities and ammenities are all first rate, and we do not sacrifice quality to make sure your stay with us is as enjoyable as you deserve and expect. You won't only learn Spanish, but will enjoy a fantastic luxury vacation.

To make sure that your stay with us is as personalised and exclusive as it is enjoyable, there are usually only 8 rooms available at The Spanish Cat, plus a number of nice families available to accommodate students.

During summer only (July and August) we have 13 rooms available.

Due to our limited spaces and the fact that people often need to book well in advance to stay with us, payment is as follows:

Within 7 days of making your booking we require a US$500 deposit, which is only refundable if your cancel at least 6 weeks before your visit.

The remainder of the funds are payable upon arrival at The Spanish Cat, upon which they are no longer refundable.

If you cancel within 6 weeks of your visit, you will be liable to pay 50% of the total cost of your stay, minus the $500 already paid.

I attended the Spanish Cat language school in Tepoztlan in July-August of this year, for three weeks. Loved it! The school is in a pleasant villa, I had my own room with bath, although you can also choose to live with a family, as several other students did.

My teachers were Juan Manuel and Dalia, and not only were they good teachers, but great people as well -- as was everyone associated with the school. Good food, prepared from scratch in the kitchen by Yani and Emma -- gorgeous grounds, tended by Colchis.

Big bonus for me was that the beautiful town of Tepoztlan is small enough to walk all over, and I spent at least two hours a day on the cobblestone streets. Also climbed to the pyramid above the town, which was strenuous, but worth it.

The daily mercado is great, and is huge on Sundays when the crowd from Mexico City comes to town.
